i have trouble learn guitar solos on my guitar. i have been playing for 3 years but i still have trouble.

Are you alternate picking? This is a major flaw of many inexperienced guitar players. You can play twice as fast with alternate picking. Are you holding your pick at an angle? This helps the pick to glide on the picked string easier so you play faster. Weather you make the angle toward the fretboard or toward the bridge is not important.

Here’s a few things you need to look up on youtube or Google:
Sweep/economy picking, pinch and natural harmonics, tapping, arpeggios, major minor diminished whole tone pentatonic and diatonic scales. Focus on major and minor but don’t neglect the others.

What are some easy, rock songs for beginner guitar players. Preferably a song that I will be able to play the whole thing, not just one riff.

Well, learning guitar is not that easy if u dont have a teacher.
But a good new for u is that this book has acoustic guitar lessons with step by step videos.
It has lessons for all level guitar learners and teachers guiding u around.

I’m having trouble getting the blues out of my guitar so to speak. I want to be able to play like Stevie Ray Vaughn or Jack White. I know the blues scale but for some reason it never sounds right please help! Some theory would be nice and please dont put blues comes from the soul.. Thank you

good blues is simple but sounds really complex. if you watch stevie ray vaughn videos he isn’t playing the whole time. he will hit a chord and sit on it for a few measures and then do a few licks. he was one of the best blues guitarists to ever live and it took him his whole life to get that sound. just practice different techniques and see what you like. a good guitarists isn’t necessarily the fastest or the one that has been playing the longest, a good guitarist is a guitarist that has a full arsenal of tricks up his sleeve. try things like the whammy bar, wah wah pedals, hammer-ons and pull-offs, bends, intervals, slides, and palm mutes. those techniques will get you started on blues. the greatest thing you can do for your playing is practicing your pentatonic scales. find what key a song is in and solo to it, you will eventually get better.

I took 8 lessons this summer so I know some basic stuff. The lessons were getting quite pricey, so I decided to drop them. =(

I am really passionate about learning and I was wondering if anyone has any experience on learning the guitar on their own. Are there any useful websites? Is it possible to learn it on your own? Would I be gaining more from my private lessons with an actual teacher?

Its quiet possible to learn guitar on your own, I haven’t had a lesson in my life, yet I am an avid guitar player. Besides the basics are sometimes the hardest parts to learn, which you have already covered.

1. Youtube, it has lots of instructional videos on how to play songs and various techniques for guitar.
2. 911tabs.com, it is a great web site that provides links to the best quality tabs of whatever song you are looking for.
3. GuitarPro or Tuxguitar, both are programs that you can input tabs into and hear the play back. They both include other instruments as well so you can play along with drums and such. Tuxguitar is free!
4. Look up the user rockongoodpeople on youtube, they have tons of great instructional videos on various songs and techniques and styles.
