As a beginner should I learn to play acoustic guitar with a pick or my fingers?
Author: admin // Category: Learn To Play GuitarI just purchased an acoustic guitar and would like to learn how to play. Should I start practicing with a pick or my fingers which one is generally better for a beginner. and also what are some good beginner songs that are not too hard to play. I want to learn to play here without you three doors down
thank you
Thank you so much great help
Begin with your fingers, as finger picking is more for acoustic guitar. And mastering it will open your playing style, where as playing with a pick, you can only pluck one string at a time, the song you want to learn how to play has lots of string skipping, which is easier to play with your fingers. When I started playing guitar 9 years ago I didn’t even know what a pick was, until I started playing Grungy rock songs, like Nirvana and The Offspring.
Nirvana’s songs are pretty basic to play, and have their quirks. But browse Tab sites like www.ultimate-guitar.com for Tabs on how to play these songs, there are also beginner sections there that would really help you out.
Also remember that you can’t play anything over night, and don’t practice when it feels like you’re getting nowhere, this will put you off playing. The guitar is something that takes time, and obviously the more you practice the easier it will become.
What is a good brand of acoustic guitar for beginners?
Author: admin // Category: Guitar For BeginnersI am interested in learning to play, and i’d like a nice guitar, thats not crazy expensive…or maybe a kit that comes with a how to video. Please suggest a brand, and maybe a website of a good store to buy from. Thanks a bunch!
I work at a music store and the guitars we sell the most for beginners are Yamaha and Harmonia. I bought a Harmonia myself because they have more color selections than Yahama. (I bought a red one.) I’ve had a few friends who are guitarists look at it and they say that except for the action being a little high, it is a pretty good guitar.
would anyone recommend acoustic guitar lessons?
Author: admin // Category: Acoustic Guitar Lessonsi’m thinking about playing the acoustic guitar because it looks really fun. are the lessons hard? are they fun? just need some information.
anything worth doing isn’t easy but when ever your done with all the lessons and you know how to play it, it will be so beautiful you’ll see. you will have a sense of accomplishment and you’ll feel great about yourself so go for it have a good time.
What other blues artists should i listen to in order to understand blues guitar?
Author: admin // Category: Blues GuitarAll i know is b.b. king and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Depends what type of blues guitar. If you are into the new stuff, Joe Bonamassa, SRV and Clapton are good bets. If you are into acoustic delta blues, you might want to look into Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House and the likes. If you want a chicago blues feel, go for Buddy Guy. If you want early electric stuff, try John Lee Hooker. If you want to play blues-rock, you could look into Jeff Beck, Jimmie Vaughan, some post-Jimi Hendrix stuff and the John Mayer Trio (must be the trio, otherwise it would mostly be pop!). I highly recommend Buddy Guy if you wanna be cool and entertaining. If you want to play mean and rough, delve deeper into Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s music. If you want heartfelt, rhythmic tunes, John Lee Hooker is a great guy to learn from. If you want some soft and bluesy stuff, Albert King. Also, if you want to get the feel for blues, Jeff Healey, Billy Preston, Ray Charles, Elmore James, Johnny Winter, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie, John Scofield, Jon Cleary and Freddie King are good influences you would appreciate. Otherwise, if you want to go for the real deep stuff, Lightning Hopkins, Little Walter, Muddy Waters, "Gatemouth", Otis Rush and T-Bone Walker are who you are aiming for, if you want to sound like a real bluesman.
I am 13 and i am seeking to learn the guitar. I have seen many online tutorials to learn how to play the guitar. I do not yet have a guitar to learn with, but i think lessons with an instructor are sort’ve expensive where i live, and i don’t want to go wasting my money if the plan i have to learn is too difficult. Are there any special books that are excellent and perhaps easy to learn guitar? Or, does anyone have any good websites that teaches lessons or tutorials for the guitar?
Hey.. James here..
It wasn’t until probably the last six months or so that I’ve been able to play the guitar. I’ve always been very interested since a young age considering my dad and his brothers pretty much grew up on the guitar and drums. It’s always been in the family and when I would watch them play they always made it look so easy.. it seemed like almost a natural thing for them. I tried for years to learn how to play… tried to have my father help me, looked to books to teach me, spent hours on youtube watching people try to explain.. etc. Nothing ever really worked. I eventually gave up for a few years then just within the past year or so I became interested in it again when I would see all these girls just going crazy over musicians at shows/concerts… lol. So I started looking online and came across this website .. http://www.guitar.pcti-system.com … which is an online program with videos and the works that teaches everything you need to know to learn how to play.
It’s probably the best tutorial/instructional course I’ve ever seen… I learned how to play the guitar very quickly and now it seems like I can almost play songs by ear.. something my uncle can do. I’m actually planning on tryin to start up a band with a few friends of mine after I get myself a newer more expensive better quality guitar. But I definitely would have never learned it if it wasn’t for that course.
I hope I was of some help to you my friend, and I wish you the best of luck! Rock on.
