I’m learning to play guitar with an acoustic. I learn to play songs by looking up the chords or tabs.
Is learning to play guitar just knowing how to play all the possible chord variations?
not really it takes practice but if u know major important chords u could play a quite a few songs but if u wanna play more then rhythm u need to now more than chords
With decent quality. I don’t have much experience with guitars. I learned a couple tunes with the electric my brother bought once but I like acoustic more. So is $100 enough, for a normal sized guitar?
I think it would be. Go to a music instrument store and tell them you want a guitar for a beginner. Make sure it has nylon strings as starting of with steel might be too much for your brother’s hands. Or there is the Target/Wal-mart type option. I never bought an acoustic there. In high school my mom took me to a local shop and we got my first guitar for $100 or less. You could search if any friends/family have an old guitar laying around or a yard sale. Just make sure the body is not cracked, the neck is not warped, etc.
Anyone know of any good online sites for free Acoustic Guitar lessons? I am a beginner… sooo…. Any sites for beginners would be good. Thanks!
Try cyberfret.com. Practice some of their beginner guitar lessons, chords, etc., every day for an hour or two, until you feel comfortable and confident enough with your chords and finger placements. Listen to tones and learn to recognize chords by their sound, then practice with songs you hear and like. The key is practice, practice, practice. By learning proper ways and tones of chords, and then moving towards simple songs you like, you will be able to recognize your own style more and get a feel of (1) the proper way to play chords and (2) your own methods of playing. Once you get a handle on this, seek out others to jam with, because that will keep you motivated to play more, and will allow you to learn from others as well.

Well recently i have been looking up on the internet for guitar softwares so i can learn on my own time. I need one that can help me play rock/metal. Another reason i want a software for learning because in the summer i will always busy and have no time for lessons with an instructor. So any good softwares out there?
