Here is the same idea in the Key of E. You will go through some trials and errors as you learn the craft of writing a melody. After you spend some time at this, you will probably learn to improvise some great lines. Notice the phrasing again. I’ll use short, sometimes three note phrases, to make a musical statement. Then, I’ll answer it with a parallel phrase or a contrary phrase. If you analyze the structure of the melody, you will find the patterns.

I’ve been learning guitar recently. Starting off with basic chords and strumming with my thumb. Now, I feel like it is cooler to be able to pick up a guitar and play. Should I learn the finger-picking style soon? Or is that advanced?

What is good about using a pick?

Honestly the only difference between finger pricking and using the pick is sound quality. I would suggest using the pick. I personally play with a pick and I’ve found that the pick creates a richer louder sound. If you want to learn finger pricking, I encourage it but, learn to do it the right way.

ok so I want to get a video that teaches me how to learn about the acoustic guitar the cords symbols everything, I don’t know what video I should get can you guys help me out… thanks

Musician’s Friend has a 3-DVD set that teaches literally everything you’d learn from years of private lessons. It starts with the very basics (names and functions of guitar parts, tuning, etc.), moves into chords and scales, has lessons on reading tablature, and eventually teaches how to write complicated riffs and solos. I bought the DVD set after having played guitar professionally for more than 20 years and can’t believe how comprehensive and helpful it is. The set costs $40, compared to about $20 for a single half-hour lesson. I’ll post a link to the set, as well as the electric set because that one has more reviews. They’re both produced by the same company and feature the same teacher, though, so the reviews of the electric one will give you a good idea about the quality of the DVD program.

I want a guitar that expresses my love for blues and has a sound similar to Eric Clapton’s guitar in songs like Cocaine and I’ve Got a Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart. My price range is $350 max, maybe $400 if I really love it. Any suggestions peoples?

A Fender Strat is the way to go from what you have said. The guitar has a good feel, very good sound and good variation in tones and is fun to play. Go to some shops, check prices, find one that feels and sounds good to you. Strats have always been my number 1 guitar for gigs, they just work. Only buy a guitar you have played. Good Luck !
