They are similar in …
They are similar in many ways and fused together at times which is real cool. Rock is one of the many “babies” spawned by the Blues. If you know nothing about the guitar than you should start with learning basic technique and chords and become familiar with the fretboard. I would also say the blues is a VERY educational style of music and you can learn alot by becoming familiar with dif. styles of the blues.
