What is the best and easiest way to learn how to play a guitar ?

Author: admin  //  Category: Learn To Play Guitar

Hi. The best thing you can do is to get private tuition from someone. However, there are two things to this. First, you do need to invest a bit of money (I use the term invest deliberately here, since I don’t consider tuition a cost).

The second thing is that you need to find a person who is on the same "wavelength" as yourself – someone you like and trust as a person.

The safest way to quit all together is to try doing it yourself "for free" (after all there is no free, since you will invest something in order to learn something – time, money, effort). Most people who go online to watch some videos and try to play simply by tabs end up quitting after a while.

What you will lack is a structure, progression and step-by-step way of connecting the dots. Like reading tabs is OK when you know how to play by ear. Until you can listen to chords, melody and rhythm, tabs is usually very confusing.

As soon as you’re up at a certain level, you can begin to pick out various free videos to learn more, or pick up bits and pieces from friends. It is possible to first of all separate the good stuff from the bad and mediocre, as well as seeing where things fir in your playing.

But like I said, you need to have the basic playing and listening skills down first. If not you will just wander aimlessly from one thing to the other, without knowing how to pick up the pieces of information that is valuable to you at the stage you’re presently at.

The middle ground between private tuition and doing it yourself is to get one of the many online courses available or getting some tuition books or DVDs. Feel free to read more below if you feel like it.

Is it easier to learn to play guitar on acoustic or electric?

Author: admin  //  Category: Learn To Play Guitar

Is it easier to learn to play guitar on acoustic or electric? Please give me an explanation on why which ever one is easier. Thanks.

A lot of people will tell you the electric guitar for thinner necks and things, but I disagree with that. Strongly. They’re both pretty easy and hard in their own ways.

Electric guitar requires a lot of discipline in picking, whether it’s hybrid, economy, alternate, sweep, etc. Playing riffs in certain songs, as well as guitar solos, can break your neck at first. Not to mention vibratos, tapping, hammer ons, pull offs, the tremo bar, slides, bends, etc.

Acoustic guitar can be easily approached by simply learning a few chords (G, C, A, D, Am, A7, F, Dm, D7, etc.) and simply learn certain strumming patterns. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of famous acoustic guitarists out there that do a lot of complicated stuff. But there aren’t that many, just a few.

Why do you think Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc. are considered rock icons? It’s really the guitar that made them. You can see some of the greatest artists the world has ever known that played guitar (Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, etc.) and they’re not in the Hall of Fame because they were guitar players. Acoustic guitar backs up the vocals, for the most part. Electric guitarists will drop everyone’s jaw with their unearthly guitar playing. Your hands have to be so disciplined that you can pick at a fast speed while keeping the rhythm and the flow, and sounding beautiful.

Also, when I first started learning how to play the guitar, I started on acoustic then got my first guitar that same year on Christmas. Learning how to play, I learned scales, chords, barre chords, and timing. You’ll do the same with the electric guitar, but I believe they’d both in their respective ways take you in a different direction.

I should also mention that it depends on the guitar style you want to go with. If you want to be a rhythm guitarist, it’s pretty easy to learn barre chords, power chords, etc. That’s much easier than a lead guitarist. A lead guitarist is in charge of the guitar solos, riffs, etc. Those are much more complicated. By the way, when I mentioned rhythm and lead, I was talking about electric guitars only. Acoustic is almost always about rhythm anyway, which is easy. You won’t see an acoustic guitarist unleashing their inner Hendrix anytime soon.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you’re going to learn how to play. It’s an amazing choice of instrument (I play myself). Best of luck to you and have fun!

How can I convince my parents to let me learn to play guitar?

Author: admin  //  Category: Learn To Play Guitar

I’m 14 and I want to learn to play guitar. I used to play viola but no one cares about that instrument. I quit it after 3 years. I asked my parents once before and they said I’m not going to really focus on it. Also, I’m going to high school so I won’t have any time to practice. Can you please give me advice on how to convince them and how to make time for practicing?

My parents wouldn’t let me play guitar either. They said that I would quit after a few weeks. They eventually gave in, and I’ve been playing for 7 years now. My advice is ask for a guitar for your birthday or whatever holiday, or just save up for one. There’s tons of online sites that can teach you tons of techniques and songs. Most of what I know, I learned by myself.

Should I learn to play the guitar or the violin?

Author: admin  //  Category: Learn To Play Guitar

I don’t know how to play any instruments and I don’t know how to read scores. I haven’t been learning to play them when I was young but now I want to. I wanted to learn to play the guitar becuase it creates a nice sound and you coul play lots of songs you wanted to with the guitar. But then I saw the violin in a anime cartoon (hehe) and I really liked it, they sounds were really beautiful and I remember my parents saying to me when I was young that i should learn to play the violin cause its the most emotional instrument in all. And I love the way people look when they hold up the violin…

Now I can’t decide on which instrument to learn…
So… I wanted some advice.

1. Which one to learn: Guitar or Violin
2. Which one is harder to learn and why.

THankyou :)

Violin is extremely hard. Guitar is pretty easy, I guess. I learned some of it but quit because I was too busy to keep taking lessons. A lot of people teach themselves guitar, and way more people play guitar than violin because its so much easier.

I think you should learn guitar.

Pros to guitar:
-More people play it, so if you went to someone’s house, they more likely have a guitar that you could play. Or at a party or something.
-You can sing while you play guitar. I’m pretty sure you can’t do that with violin. If you do your vibrations would probably mess up the sound of the violin. Probably not that badly though. Singing with a violin is kinda weird though.
-Its easier.
-You can find cheap guitars because a lot of people have them and they’re always someone looking to give theirs away.

Pros to Violin:
-Its smaller and easier to carry than the guitar.
-Its more unique.
-Since not as many people play it, there are probably more jobs looking for good violin players.
-People are more impressed with violins than guitars. Because it’s much harder and more unique.

Hope that helps! :)
